So this is what we’ve chosen to do with our life. We could be sitting in a monastery somewhere in Japan. We could be out sailing. Some of the [executive team] could be playing golf. In the West, you have bigger homes, yet smaller families; you have endless conveniences – yet you never seem to have any time. You can travel anywhere in the world, yet you don’t cross the road to meet your neighbours; you have more food than you can eat, yet that makes many who are overweight miserable. I don’t think people have become more selfish, but their lives have become easier and that has spoilt them. They expect more, they constantly compare themselves to others and they have too much choice – which brings no real freedom.”

- The Dalai Lama

An update..

So, a lot has happened since I last posted an update..

I had my last university exam just under 3 weeks ago, Systems Analysis. Not much fun, and I wasn’t confident at all going into the exam (or during!), but I haven’t heard back about needing to retake it, so it appears to have gone alright! I should hear my results back sometime in July, and after that point, it means I have finished university. Fingers crossed!

I have also turned into a major fitness freak.
I guess it started back in December, when whilst dealing with Christmas dinner bloat, I decided that sitting at a desk all day wasn’t doing wonders for my health, and that I should join a Gym. So I did.
It has been going really well, and I generally go three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 7am. I have certainly felt the effects, and I must recommend going so early in the morning, as I have found that it really energises me for the rest of the day!

I have also signed up for a five day cycling trip to the French Alps in August, where I will be riding up this, this, and possibly this. The eagle eyed of you may have noticed that the first one finishes at 2057m, and the second starts at 2057m. That is because after doing the beautiful first one, on top of that is the second.

What have I let myself in for!

I have also signed up for the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton ride on the 20th June (uh oh, I have just realised that is less than 3 weeks away!), which will serve as a warm up ride for the Alps trip.

On top of all the cycling I’m doing, and the Gym, I have also decided to enter the Bristol Half Marathon. 13.1 miles of hilly goodness!
I have always wanted to do a marathon, and I figure that a half marathon is a good way to get a taster of what to expect! That is on September 5th, so I have a few months to prepare.

In other news, it is Riina and my one year anniversary on the 9th of June, which I am super excited about! The only trouble is that she has today left to go to Brazil for two weeks, and will therefore be on the other side of the world for the event. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology however, we will be hoping to have a Skype celebration instead!

I am totally jealous of her being there, fuelled even more by the fact that it has been raining all day today!

Anyway, I want to go and read some more of my book!

I hope everyone is well!

"Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill.

Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt.
Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench.
